The Bert Jacket

A relaxed, unisex blazer made from custom-woven check Donegal tweed by Molloy & Sons, one of Ireland’s longstanding woollen mills. Cut with a slightly oversized, boxy silhouette, it has an easy, considered shape that works across seasons and wardrobes. The jacket is fully lined in Irish linen, adding a soft, natural finish.

The Bert is named after our friend and maker, Bert O’Brien, who was our very first manufacturing partner when Jennifer Slattery began in 2011. Bert ran his factory in Portobello, Dublin for over 40 years and was an important part of the early story of the business. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago.

When Jennifer got married in 2013, Bert made her a jacket in Donegal tweed to wear over her wedding dress. This jacket is very much inspired by that original, bringing the memory of Bert and that special piece into a new design.

Made to be worn often and with everything, the Bert works effortlessly with jeans and a simple T-shirt, layered over knitwear or paired with a dress. A jacket with a story, made from beautiful Irish materials and designed to become part of your wardrobe for years to come.

We are making a small batch of these Bert jackets, delivery is late September.
